Self-styled “King of Kwaito” (I don’t know if he should still call himself since there’s not much kwaito left), has been running through more problems in recent weeks than a white man stuck in Zimbabwe.
First he lost the once-popular Zombo to an Aids-related illness last month and just before his death, the artist spoke badly of Mafokate in the papers accusing him of lack of support in his dying days. And now it has emerged that his other protégé Stichman is also gravely ill with the disease.
And lest I forget to mention, just a couple of weeks ago DJ Cleo accused and ridiculed him in every public platform that he could get his hands on for allegedly stealing a hit song from him.
Now, according to a Sunday World report, the poor guy has just found out that Sewela, the mother of one of his daughters, Kelello, died from an unknown illness last Friday.
Her death came after he had to suspend the production of the album of his new group, Zero 11.
The group is made up of Longwe Twala, the son of Chicco Twala, and Themba Mhinga, the son of Yvonne Chaka Chaka and Nthabiseng Mphahlele.
The suspension follows media reports that Chicco and Yvonne are not happy with their children’s involvement in the music industry and want them to go back to school.
Despite everything that people might say about Arthur, this dude is a hustler and will always find a way to survive. After all, cats that he came into the industry with such as Mdu and Joe Nina have been chewed up by the system, yet he is still on everybody’s lips.
You gotta respect that.
